The CTA compares the two types of people (whether for fitness monitoring or for health monitoring) that were originally purchased by the user. They found that users who purchased equipment for fitness reasons mainly wanted to monitor calorie consumption by 61%, followed by monitoring heart rate (52%), step monitoring (42%), distance monitoring (34%) and blood pressure monitoring (23%). . However, 58% of users who purchased equipment for health reasons were used for heart rate monitoring, followed by calorie expenditure monitoring (48), blood pressure monitoring (47%), step monitoring (28%) and distance monitoring (21%). ).

Nearly half of consumers (44%) said they decided to purchase health or fitness equipment because of family or friends. 17% were affected by online recommendations, 11% were due to medical experts' advice, and 4% were due to corporate health programs.

CTA also released sales forecast data for health and fitness equipment. The organization predicts that health and fitness equipment sales will reach $1.8 billion in 2015, with activity tracking equipment accounting for the largest share. Compared with last year, it increased by 18%, and the growth rate in 2016 is expected to be 10%.
