After the Guangdong Provincial Price Bureau announced that it would reduce the price of more than 500 Chinese patent medicines on November 22, it recently reviewed the highest retail prices of some western medicines. The reporter learned from the Provincial Price Bureau yesterday that after the procedures of the experts' demonstration and the review of the Provincial Pharmaceutical Price Evaluation Committee, the Provincial Price Bureau drafted 441 prescriptions for Western medicine price adjustment.

It is reported that this time the price adjustment of medicines follows the principle of “maintaining the rise, fall, and maintain,” and adopts a differential pricing policy. It will give appropriate support to the price of cheap drugs with a treatment cost of RMB 3 or less.

The western medicine publicized this time involved a total of 99 varieties and 441 items, mainly belonging to the OTC medicines authorized by the state and the province's pricing authority. Among them, the 307 items of price cuts maintained the 134 items of the original government's announced price, and the adjusted maximum retail price was 22% lower than the current price.
