The blister rapid production equipment from Uhlmann Pac-Systeme is compact and rigorous, and is a good choice for packaging production with less than 15,000 blister packs to meet the needs of most pharmaceutical production.

Since the launch of the BlisterExpress Center, Uhlmann Pac-Systeme has opened up a new territory in the pharmaceutical industry. The Fast Blister Center Equipment (BEC) is a set of equipment including thermoforming equipment, carton packaging equipment, stretching equipment, and all equipment and software that need to be integrated into production planning and material supply. The design requirements meet GMP standards and guarantee stable high quality production and safety. Since the device can be contact-free and the time to replace the device is only 15min, the fast blister central device is economical and flexible for small and medium-sized blister packs with a packaging capacity between 500 and 15000. The aspects are perfect. On average, large-volume packaging accounts for 15% to 30% of total production, and medium-volume packaging accounts for 25%. The remaining 50% of the packaging is in small quantities. In this case, it is very unwise to use a high-speed packaging line. The application of the fast blister center equipment can make the high-speed packaging production line more applicable to other applications. The place to go.
Uhlmann's fast blister center unit is a single-line assembly that compresses a thermoforming unit, carton and stretching module to a length of 8 m, which is half the length of a conventional line. But small is not the main advantage of this device, fast blister center equipment has many advantages that other equipment does not have.

A total of 26 simultaneous servo systems automatically control all functions to place blister, carton and label in a specified position with high accuracy. The replacement of the device is also made easier by the use of a servo system. With its own pre-determined programming, small light weight tools and 22 components, a well-trained operator can complete the device size change in 15 minutes.

All three modules are controlled by a central operating and visualization system with a touch screen. This system stores and manages data in a special format and in a special sequence across the entire production line, minimizing the traditional format conversion effort.

The direct conversion from one unit to another increases the safety factor of the process, while the unified design of the three modules reduces the gap between the parts of the equipment and simplifies the maintenance process.

All metal foils, products, cartons and instructions required for the operation of the equipment can be placed in the equipment in a more advanced manner for unmanned operation. With two sets of fast-blown central equipment running in parallel, the production time can reach 80% to 90%, making it a new breakthrough in the pharmaceutical industry.

Integration and programmatic control

Servo system technology is the core technology of fast blister center equipment, where the material is unrolled, heated, and placed in a blister. In addition to PVC, the equipment can handle PP, PVDC, Aclar and aluminum, the process will not produce defects, and the loss of raw materials can be minimized. The thermoforming module can process 100 blister per minute.

The forming equipment is then filled with material and the position of the blister is detected by a laser controlled system. After the blister is engraved and punched, it is punched and placed directly into the product transport system of the carton machine, which aligns the products up to 85 mm in height, and the partially filled blister is removed and collected separately.

The carton transfer device can only complete the stacking of the blister. There is no need to manually adjust the carton filling equipment during the operation, the capacity can reach 5000 cartons and instructions. For larger production applications, another alternative packing system called PacLoader can add another 10,000 cartons. Determining the width of the carton, the filling and production capacity of the manual, and the application of specific data stored in the computer are performed by the servo system.

By stretching and sealing the polyethylene film with a servo system, the tensile module can be used in applications where the yield is extremely small. Pack 25 packs per minute, each containing 80 small cartons or 40 cartons. The number of layers and rows is freely controlled by the program, and the cartons can be stacked flat or stacked. Uhlmann can also tailor its own equipment to the specific requirements of its customers.

Figure 4 The blister is transferred directly from the thermoforming unit to the inside of the carton unit, which means there is no need to add equipment to store the blister in the middle. There is a waste pulverizer inside the system, and the empty blister and the corners of the package can be pulverized in the middle.

Logistics and document management

Since many factors, such as raw materials and parts, can affect production, even perfect equipment cannot guarantee 100% yield. Therefore, the rapid blister center equipment also designed a logistics system matched with the equipment. All necessary packaging materials, tools and standard parts are kept in the Uhlmann Shuttle, a miniature overhead storage system that includes the transfer of packaging materials, products and rollers for parts. In this way, the operation of the equipment and the supply of raw materials are very accurate.

Application software tool

Application software tools are an important addition to the fast blister center device. A set of procedures is responsible for managing the production plan for each production or a fixed production cycle. The program can give advice on which day of the production, on which production line, and on the tool and standard parts. Another set of procedures is responsible for data collection, collecting, visualizing, collating, and evaluating data on the device. Efficiency and application factors are often required, as rapid analysis often leads to rapid production adjustments that maximize the potential of equipment production.

Because of the obvious advantages in terms of power and flexibility in the economical handling of packaging problems for small quantities of products, fast blister center equipment has gained a foothold in the competition of the modern pharmaceutical packaging industry.
