At present, under the promotion of the basic drug system policy, the reimbursement rate for medical expenses for hospitals nationwide for NCMS and urban residents has reached more than 60%, and some co-ordinated regions have increased to 70%. More than 90% of the co-ordinating regions have carried out outpatient and co-ordination.

The basic national drug system mainly includes selection and adjustment of national essential drug lists, centralized tender procurement and unified distribution, zero-disparity sales, and medical insurance reimbursement and other related policy measures, involving a total of 307 kinds of drugs designated by the country and various types of drugs added in various regions. According to reports, on the basis of the comprehensive implementation of the basic drug system, the country will also fully implement the general practitioner system, improve drug price management, and reconstruct the nationwide drug supply guarantee system.
