Brief description of the advantages of the reducer type stepping motor

I often listen to customers saying that we want to have a stepper motor with a reducer. What is the difference between a stepper motor with a reducer and a stepper motor without a reducer? Is there a speed reducer? What advantages does it have? The following is to explain the advantages of the stepper motor of the reducer;

First, it can be driven by a large inertia load.

When a stepper motor of a reducer type is used, the inertia moment of the rotatable inertia load is increased to be proportional to the second power of the reduction ratio. Therefore, a large inertia load can be performed.

Second, improved damping characteristics at start and stop

When the inertia load is large or the acceleration deceleration time is short, the geared motor can suppress the damping effect and achieve stable driving compared with the standard stepping motor. It is suitable for large inertia short-time positioning applications such as indexing discs and robots.

Third, miniaturization

Compared with the standard stepping motor and reducer type stepping motor that produce the same torque in the low speed field, the stepping motor has a smaller installation size, which can reduce the quality and reduce the volume. It is helpful when it is required to miniaturize the device and reduce the weight.

Fourth, the rigidity is high and it is not easy to reverse

The step-down motor is not easy to twist because of its high rigidity, and it is less affected by the load torque variation than the standard stepping motor. Therefore, stable high-precision positioning can be achieved even if the load size changes.

Fifth, it can be installed on the load side.
