The American Institute of Human Genome recently announced that they chose 18 species in order to decipher the genetic sequence. This is the first time that a large number of organisms have been included in the scientists' plan. The order of deciphering genes has been reported, but currently there are very different representatives of organisms in the "list of lists" - from giant creatures to tiny creatures, of which the seven selected organisms belong to mammals, ie elephants, crickets. Rats, hedgehogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, clams and whales. The genetic structure and comparative analysis of these animals will help scientists better understand human genes, and they will also be able to study humans and their “close relatives”—the diseases of primates, especially orangutans. It is worth mentioning that the work of deciphering chimpanzees and rhesus monkey genes is nearing completion. Another group of organisms that are preparing to reveal the mystery of their genetic structure are mainly snails and worms, and they should show scientists the process of gene organization. It should be noted that the listed list of 18 organisms also includes kangaroos, cattle, flies, fungi, and the like. The work to decipher these biological genes will be carried out at five centers that are jointly developed by research centers around the world. These centers will use the rapid “shotgun” method developed by the human genome experts. The working time will be less than one year.
