Scientists in our country have cultivated an insulin-containing tomato. The result comes from Peking University’s Protein and Plant Genetic Engineering Laboratory. In this project, the researchers designed the coding sequence of human insulin according to the plant's preferred code, managed to synthesize the human insulin gene, and then introduced this gene into the tomato. Tomatoes grown in this way contain insulin. Diabetic patients can supplement insulin after eating this tomato, which is equivalent to injections and medications, but its price is only 1/10 of the same amount of drugs.
