According to the relevant person in charge of the market, last year's South Korean Kimchi crisis made Chinese cabbage market prices rise all the way, and wholesale prices once climbed to a high of 1 yuan per catty. “The vegetable prices were ten times more expensive than they are now, and almost every family grows vegetables. The result has now fallen into this category.” The person in charge said that due to the high food prices in winter last year, the cultivation enthusiasm of vegetable farmers this year has significantly increased.

However, it is unpredictable for vegetable farmers that the blind increase in planting area this year led to a sharp increase in supply, and that small retailers such as vegetable growers lack bargaining power in front of vegetable wholesalers, and price decline is inevitable.

A number of farmers interviewed by the reporter said that since the second half of 2010, related production materials including fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, etc. have been rising. The current vegetable prices have fallen sharply and have directly affected the income of vegetable farmers.

It is difficult for farmers to sell vegetables on the one-sided-per-side basis for every circulation. On the other hand, it is expensive for the people to buy vegetables.

The reporter visited the wholesale market of Beijing Xinfadi Agricultural Products (000061) and discovered that there are nearly 20 varieties of vegetables that are diving at wholesale prices.
